How cool would it be to have a mouse or keyboard with no wires attached? No tangles to worry about and you can move anywhere on your desk. Well its not THAT cool, but interesting to play around with. When I first opened up my Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Explorer, I noticed it was shaped differently compared to my wired Intellimouse Explorer. Its pretty big, but as with any mouse or keyboard it takes time to get used to it. The accuracy isn't even comparable to that of the wired version of this mouse. At points it was laggy or not as precise as I wanted it to be. You can "tweak" your mouse by installing the CD that comes with it and playing around with the settings to find what is more comfortable to you.
The range isn't that bad, I could easily control the mouse from the other side of my room. Obstructions do cause worse accuracy than there is already. This mouse required some tweaking when I initially installed it to function properly.
Just don't forget to change your
batteries!!! It would definitely stink if you were using the computer and
the batteries died and you had no extras laying around. The batteries seem
to have a pretty good life time when using the mouse and the mouse goes into a
"sleep" mode when it isn't in use.
After using this mouse for over a week and getting used to it, I decided to switch back to my wired one. Why? Its just smoother, more precise and doesn't tend to lag as the wireless one did. If I had to recommend the wireless or wired version of this mouse, I would definitely recommend the wired version for now. To the typical home user it won't do you harm, but if you are a gamer or designer (CAD, etc), you will want to stick with the wired version.
