It was only a week ago when AMD had "released" their Athlon XP 2600+, but Intel has already shot back with a newer, faster and better processor. One thing that determines this is availability: AMD had "released" their latest, but they would not make it available to the consumer market for approximately one month. Intel has been quickly climbing the ladder in the processor market with both speed and market holdings. It is rumored that we will be seeing an Athlon XP 2800+ around Halloween and a Northwood 3GHz by the Holidays.
