'They Hunger' Half-Life Modification: Review

Ever hear of "They Hunger"? It's a modification for Half-Life made by PC Gamer....well not BY PC Gamer but it was made FOR PC Gamer. Anyway, I was really impressed with this great add on for Half-Life. It has three episodes and over 50 levels to explore. They story goes that you are traveling through this small town and get stranded by this strange meteorological event that raises the dead and turns them into brain hungry zombies. Pretty soon the townsfolk, the police, and even YOU become a zombie. What I really liked was the variety of weapons that you had at your disposal to fight back against these zombies. I can’t pick a favorite…I’m divided between either the flamethrower or the shovel. As I was saying, you are turned into a zombie with trying to take down the zombie leader but you don't hunger for brains like the others and the others are trying to kill you. Anyway, the US Military comes to "save" the town but instead is trying to kill you because they think you are a zombie, which you pretty much are. Don't fret though, even if you weren't a zombie they wouldn't have helped you...just like the soldiers sent to Black Mesa these guys aren't there to help anyone. It’s up to you to get rid of these zombies and try get out of town alive…or undead I guess. I definitely encourage everyone to download or buy the May PC Gamer magazine to get this game. It is so good I would even PAY for it as a stand-alone game! So go download, install, and play this game....with all the lights on of course! :)

You can download They Hunger episodes 1 and 2 here.  Don’t worry, by the time you are done playing though the first two they will probably have the third up. Or you can go get them all now on CD from PC Gamer’s May Issue.

RATING: 10/10

PROS:

Great storyline that keeps you hooked!

Liked the variety of weapons!

Takes not only the ability to dispatch zombies while army guys are shooting at you, but it also takes skill….just like Half Life.

CONS:

Over 50 levels that will keep you away from your job, friends, and family until you complete them all!
