As you can see, the remote has many buttons that control a wide variety of functions. Some of the features of the remote are: · Controlling the volume · Controlling music · Controlling a DVD or other movie · Watching TV using a TV tuner · Slideshow (PowerPoint) controls · Moving/clicking the mouse · 6 Programmable buttons Some of the simplest features are the most used and the most practical. Volume control really helps if you listen to CDs and DVDs on your computer. So do the play/pause buttons. In the past, it was harder to watch a DVD on a computer, due to the need to be close to the computer to be able to play/pause/fast-forward/rewind/etc. Not anymore. The PowerPoint controls (the OK button and surrounding buttons at the bottom) are also very useful if you give PowerPoint presentations. The less used features, such as number input and record button, would be very useful if you used a TV tuner but not very useful if you didn't. The thumbpad for the mouse (and the clicking buttons for left and right) would basically be used if a certain function you require is not found on the remote and could only be done by moving the mouse.
